It was disproportionate because other people have been killed without so much fanfare, because other families have been ignored, because, sad as it was, he was just a bloke who got shot. It was an awful thing to happen but ask the families of other victims why their sons/daughters didn’t get the same coverage.

He has been made the Katy French of shooting victims.

No doubt the disproportionate response to the killing of Shane Geoghegan will provide much solace to those families who have also been victims of gun crime and seen their loved ones completely ignored. No minutes silences, no Gardai inquiries, no hand-wringing the likes of which even Scousers would find cringeworthy.
