Barry George has reportedly developed a fixation on RTE newsreader Anne Doyle.

The loner, who was cleared of murdering BBC presenter Jill Dando earlier this year, has bombarded the Montrose newsroom with emails, texts (at 30c a time) and phone calls.

According to a source the 48-year-old has even threatened to wait outside the studios for Anne, prompting RTE chiefs to hire private security for the 9 o’clock news presenter. The security was immediately let go when it was discovered that the company in question had links to rugby presenter Ryle Nugent, breaking RTE’s strict anti-nepotism code.

George lost his top lip in a prison fight

The same source told us “Barry is like a weird kind of mutant Casanova. He has a different woman on the go all the time except instead of seducing them and making sweet, sweet love to them he wants to cut pictures of them out of magazines, follow them around and then not kill them like he didn’t kill Jill Dando.

He was obsessed with X Factor judge Cheryl Cole until he was threatened by her footballer husband who said he’d stick his mobile phone up George’s arse if he didn’t leave her alone. He might be a crazy stalker but he knows when to leave well enough alone.

He found Anne’s picture when trawling the internet and hasn’t left her alone since. He is determined to make her his next conquest and has been seen clutching the Evening Herald and waiting around various bedsits in Rathmines just so he can be close to her. George, half-brother of Boy, has had many other obsessions since his release from prison, including Sky News presenter Kay Burley, Princess Anne, Paula Radcliffe, Heather Mills, pop stars B*Witched, Floella Bejamin, actress Helen Mirren and poet Pam Ayres, to whom he wrote obscene rhyming couplets.

He was freed this August after spending eight years in prison after being convicted of the murder of BBC presenter Jill Dando. The jury accepted the fact that he was a complete mentalist who was too stupid to carry out such a slick and professional hit. The real killer has never been found with police sources saying they have no leads and are desperately hoping for him to kill another TV celebrity in the hope he leaves behind more evidence.

It is believed RTE have offered their help and have told Scotland Yard that while they are unwilling to sacrifice Anne Doyle they’ll hand over Kathryn Thomas for a ‘moderate four figure sum’.
